In the end, Obama doesn't get my vote

you mean in November or is your state's primary still to come?

State primary over (SC) and in November, I'll write in Ron Paul before I vote for any of these clowns.

Yes, because voting for Ron Paul is a great way to avoid the hype machine in this election

haha, no shit. go ahead and toss that vote in the crapper.

Besides being overly hyped, Obama really doesn't present any new ideas at all. He's a sponge who soaks up other peoples' ideas and re-spews them with his fancy rhetorhic, making them appear to be his ideas. Debate after debate we've seen this. The only "new" ideas he has are more "entitlements" to people/nations who don't deserve them in the first place. And, oh yeah, he'll un-conditionally meet with any "enemy" of the U.S. (as much as I hate to ... gotta give Hillary credit on this issue). Every time I hear him open his mouth I wanna puke, the "plagarist" or "Zerox" label fits him perfectly IMHO. And in the immortal words of Lloyd Benson - "Sir, I knew Jack Kennedy and you are no Jack Kennedy."

My main problem with him though is a total lack of trust. First and foremost, he has been the ultimate "race card" player in this election for portraying himself as a black man, and having experienced in life what it is to be black. Give me a freakin' break ... free-ride Ivy League education, etc. Worse yet though, and what really infuriates me, is how do you think his poor mother (R.I.P.) would feel if she were here to hear this garbage ? The only blood parent who ever played a role in his life (besides being a sperm donator) was white and he is calling himself a black man ? And before you even think about calling me a racist, I must make a confession - the "opinion" expressed in this paragraph is not even originally mine. But I'm not a plagarist so I will gladly credit the originators - several of my black friends and work associates !!! Why is it so hard for him to admit what he really is, bi-racial ? It's not like that is so taboo anymore.

Finally, I have a MAJOR problem with his wife's statement re: for the first time being proud of her country. That's f#cking pathetic and of great offense to many people who have served this country. My family (incl. myself) have served this country since almost the beginning. Look up Gen. Hiram Outcalt, for example. He served several years along/under Washington, and all for the huge sum of 1 pound, 1 shilling, and 1 pence (I got copies of the payment thanks to the D.A.R. chapter of NJ). Four relatives killed in WWI. Three of my uncles killed in WWII, incl. two at the BoftheB. One other served as a Marine advance scout in the Pacific, no picnic ... check out Time Life's World War II in pictures (available again !), he's one of the three credited photographers. My dad fought in Korea. And I, I got a chance to "visit a new foreign land and kill people" in the jungles of S. Asia. So, Michelle, shut your yap-hole about pride in this country until YOU have done something for it.

This whole election is depressing. Over a year ago I was initially a staunch McCain advocate, when everybody else was already writing him off as "no chance". Now that he's in the driver's seat, his head-in-the-sand policy on Iraq and idiotic stance on illegal ALIENS has me running from him and quick. While I do believe that fundamentalist Islamic terrorists present one of our biggest challenges ahead, they do not lie in Iraq (nor did any WMD's which had been gone since the mid-90's). Indeed, all we have accomplished in Iraq is to waste billions of $'s and brave young Americans' lives, but worse yet, we opened a "Pandora's box" that has furthered re-igniting old Sunni / Shia (Shiite) conflicts. No way I can vote for someone stupid enough not to understand/admit that. And as for illegal aliens in this country, I'm gonna "borrow" an Obama quip and say "YES WE CAN". Yes we can send 12M or 20M or whatever the number of illegal aliens is, back home. Much more of this and "the people" will RISE up again.

Perhaps it's time to eliminate this position in our government ? In my lifetime I have only known two Presidents whose actions _even remotely_ reflected a genuine interest in improving the lives of the average American. And no, Ronnie Ray-gun was not one of them ...

Its a matter of personal priorities as to who you support. Some of the major issues that present us, I feel will best be handled by a Republican President, while some others I feel will be better solved by a Democrat. The trick is to decide how to prioritize these issues, because if we think any of the candidates can solve all of them, we are in for a rude awakening. It's almost to the point where there are so many dire issues that everything gets bogged down and nothing ever gets done.

Do we need change?? Well of course we do, everyone agrees to that, but where will it best come from is the question. For these reasons I hold no alliance to any of the candidates yet, I have more listening to do. November is a long way off, the most important issue of today will probably be something totally different by then.
