Hey everyone!

My name is Cristian

I recently upgraded my GPU to a Sapphire HD 6870 and I just wondering if my PSU can handle the total system power consumption. The rest of the specs of my system are the follow:
Phenom II X2 550 BE @stock
6 GB RAM
500 hdd
1 DVD
4 fan case

The thing is that I was doing some test with Furmark 1.8.2 (in Xtreme Burning mode). On idle, GPU-Z shows that the 12v line is in 12.13v, which is ok. However, under load, the 12v line is down to 11.88v and remains stable in that value. So, the big question is: Do I have to worry about that? Or it is just normal? Can someone do the same test only to be sure?

The PSU claims the follow specifications:

Many thanks!

Best regards,

Cristian

What PSU is it? What company makes it? Also, software voltage readings are never accurate.

It is a PowerCooler PS-500ss. I really don't know what is the real brand of the PSU, since it's imported from china and it sells under this name in Argentina. Nonetheless, it cost like an OCZ of the same range (500w)

Some sugestion?

Thanks!

Your system doesn't use that many watts but that could be a very crappy power supply. Theoretically it should be fine; however considering the price and the fact it's from China, I'd say it is not a quality unit. Do yourself a favor and get a quality power supply. OCZ units are decent, and should be much better than what you're currently using. Antec, Corsair, Seasonic, and Silverstone are good brands to get. You probably don't live in the US, so you might have a few other brands available to you.
