I receiven an infraction

I am sad to say that today i received an infraction for insulting a member. I don't do that kind of stuff but he started first and i just responded back.

Now it says my infraction ends on 10-24-2011. 🙁

I won't argue why and how did i get it since i know i broke the forum's rule eve though i was provoked and i didn't started it.

My question is what an infraction means, what does it do to my profile and how can i get rid of it ASAP.

Infractions are..."warnings" in a sense. Not a ban, but if you get enough you get banned for a period of time. I was kind of wondering why they are lasting for a year too.
 
I don't know why they last for a whole year and i am not interested in knowing since i don't plan on getting one either way. I just don't want all of my friends here at the forum to see it.
 
Additionally, the sense of expiration, at least on this forum, is actually not true as the infraction never disappears. Its an arbitrary date applied for the hell of it. An infraction is an infraction and will remain as long as you're a member 🙂

The worst part of an Infraction is the Message about it that sticks to the bottom of you screen whenever you look at Subscribed threads. It's a twist of the knife everytime you see it. D:
 
In the future I would recommend posing these types of questions in Moderator Discussions: http://forums.anandtech.com/forumdisplay.php?f=56 so all of these other yahoos cannot view the discussion (only moderators and the OP can see discussion there).

I would also recommend not getting any more infractions.

Finally, I would recommend the word "received".

Lol i should have seen that coming. I won't comment that one. Lot of people know me here. I even got their Skype contacts and became friends. My good deed portfolio speeks for myself, not those pearly whites.

I guess i am paying too much attention to this infraction don't you think? I got the point alright...

I have 2 infractions, awarded simultaneously, for posting the gif of Katy Perry's superb bouncing boobs in 2 separate thread.

they are also ~1 yr+, and they were worth it.

I have a ~1 week infraction, long expired but still posted, for the classic: "Frozen Anal Beads is not an appropriate tag."
