My friend works at Symantec and he gets free discs for some reason. He just gives them to me all the time.

However, i dont' know much about the realiability of MAXELL DVD-r discs. Are they even reliable?

If not, recommend me a good brand.

You've never heard of Maxell? I'd say they're one of the more common brands of disc's available ... especially through retail stores. Maxell, Memorex, Verbatim, etc... all come to mind as commonly available

One of the top and most common brand. They are usually 1st class medias.

I've used lots of their CD-R media with no problems and the embossed logos look very cool. I haven't tried their DVD stuff yet as I have a lot of other on hand, but I may try some when I need to buy more. And I'm pretty sure Maxell optical media isn't made by Maxell anyway. It's OEM's for them in Taiwan. The Maxell CD media I have here is made by Prodisc.
