I ordered my second 64-Bit Sempron 754 and it arrived with bent pins. I received it on Monday or Tuesday and waited for this Sunday to install it. I wonder if Newegg.com will take it back? I checked their RMA page and think they won't exchange it since it has physical damage. What should I do? I really don't want to unbend the pins because about 10 or more are bent and I am not sure if I could align them properly. Also, I am afraid of breaking the pins. Thanks for any help.

Try calling Newegg... If the pins are only slightly bent then you could just straighten them (they dont have to be absolutely straight, just straight enough to fall into the holes in the socket) but since the CPU is brand new you should just use your warranty. If the newegg folks are not amenable you can try calling AMD directly.

Contact newegg first, and see what they tell you. If they won't take it back, then its not all that hard to bend tham back with a NON charged flathead screwdriver, and if you're careful, it will take several times of bending them until they will break.

The egg has always worked with me, and seen to it I was a satified customer. Tell them it arrived that way and they will almost undoubtedly issue an RMA, just be polite about it. The physical damage disclaimer is more for dolts who used to fry their processors, crushed the exposed cores, got that silver T.I.M. crud all over the pins, that sort of thing. Now, had you bent the pins yourself by trying to force in a ZIF then that would be under the disclaimer.

Thanks a lot for your comments. I called Newegg.com yesterday and they will issue me a refund for the CPU. They would have also replaced it, but it was quicker for me to order another CPU and get a refund. In fact, the replacement on the truck for delivery today.
