I really need to know if this PSU fits in CM Stacker

Hiyas. I'm buying a Coolermaster Stacker and I was going to buy a OCZ Modstream 520w but I've been told by at least one person that it doesn't fit in the PSU reserved area (top left). While it does fit at the bottom I'd rather have it in it's usual place.

Can anyone please confirm if it does indeed not fit? And if so.. would the powerstream fit instead?

And to you Stacker users, whatother GOOD PSUs fit nice and snug that you would recommend?

thanks!

The reason why the Modstream does not work well with the Stacker is because of that PSU cage built into the chassis-- It would foul some of the modular harnesses.

I would NOT go with a Powerstream though, considering that you are looking to build a quiet system-- The powerstream uses an 80mm fan, which is noisier than PSUs that use 120mm fans.

THe Seasonic S12-430 will fit, yep. Just one potential issue though: Because of that PSU cage, you have to route the power cables around it. That means you might need extensions, particularly for drives mounted near the bottom of the case.

but let me understand something though... about the routing around the psu cage and running out of cable lengh

wouldn't that be a problem with ALL and any PSU unit that doesn't happen to come with especially long cables?

and uh.. there isn't any disadvantage to using extensions is there? as far as power loss or stability i mean

oh and.. if the seasonic 430 fits.. it means the 500w version will fit just as well right?

and hell while i'm at it.. is seasonic really just about the quietest psu one can buy? anything bad about them?

Thermaltake purepower 680W has very long cables, my armor is as big as the stacker and the lengh is more than enough in this PSU. It also is a very powerful unit, but from I've heard is very expensive in the USA (not sure about this). I highly recommend this PSU.

- Resistance to electricity is a function of the length of the conductor, the width of the conductor, the material of the conductor and temperature. As long as the extension is a good-quality product (well-made connectors and pins with good contacts, thick-gauge wire in the cables), you should be OK.

- Yes, the 500 should fit. Though I think the 430 should be more than plenty for your configuration (and lots cheaper too).

- The Seasonics are indeed the quietest fan-cooled PSUs you can buy. It's been tested against other brands of PSUs by Silent PC Review for decibel levels. Just about the only thing I don't like about the Seasonics is that there isn't a modular version!
