I really hope the OpenDocument format catches on, and I hope MS will support it.

I own a copy of Office 2000 and have access to Office 2003 if I want it for free through work.

I've been using O😵rg 2 since it was in beta and I really like it.

In the last few months dealing with webpages, and now with a lot of documents, I really understand why having open standards is an incredibly good thing and I wish that everyone would follow them.

nothing IMO.. ok, maybe the open doc standard. OO still doesn't look.. refined. This is strictly a UI argument tho, keep that in mind.

Functionality is hard to judge, I've never used Excel/Word to their full extent. The other tools, such as Impress... in 1.1 were terrible compared to PowerPoint though, even for basic usage. It could be my bias towards MS products since I've used them for so long.

A really good and fast word processor is abiword. So long as you dont' need anything fancy.. I installed it for a neighbor because she needed to work w/ word docs but only had works. OO was to bulky and slow at the time (1.0).
