I really hope that one candidate wins the popular vote, while the other wins the electoral vote...

I'm not really a big fan of Constitutional crises, but wouldn't that be funny?

It doesn't matter which one would win; the other's party would certainly make enough noise to keep us all entertained.

History says that there will be an uproar for maybe two weeks after the election if that happens, then everyone will forget. Nothing's gonna change.

Don't forget,, in 92 Clinton didn't win over 50% of the vote and was still elected to office,, noone seemed to care.

Yes, boys and girls, but IT HAS BEEN STATED AND CONFIRMED by the people in Washington that if this DOES HAPPEN again (as it only has one time before), the electoral college will be done away with for good. I'm all for it. --As long as it's not Al Gore with the majority of the electoral votes. ;)

P.S.-- People, I'm from Tennessee, basically, and I have been dealing with Gore for a HELL of a lot longer than 8 years. Gore = suck.

I'm glad to see that you did care! I guess what I meant was there was hardly any mention of it in the press or by anyone I spoke with about it.

Why should that be an if-then argument? Bush being a college party animal and Gore being suck are completely unrelated.

There is no way in hell the electoral collage is going down anytime soon. The very way the collage works is the only thing that is keeping a handful of real parties from running. If the collage was gotten ride of then bush (not the lite version) would be the last republican prisedent. You couldn't get the 2/3 vote need to get ride of the collage no matter what no party would want to risk open up the voting.

Get rid of the college. No logic you can use can say that the candidate the majority of the people vote for shouldn't be elected. To attempt such a thing is the suicide of rational thought.

The sad thing is that both candidates (more than likely) will play the game of "whatever benefits me" as far as this issue goes. I trust Bush more so than Gore on this, but the winner will do everything they can to keep the system in place, and the loser will do everything they can to take it down. But the bottom line is, the college needs to die, PERIOD.

And the sad thing is, Gore is more likely to wind up in the Loser = Winner situation.
