is there a worse way to play a game? why does it take 20 minutes to start playing CS?

And, um, if you were using another source, you'd get your game faster?

I have NO problems with steam... not even one!

Do you even have Steam?

I got home with HL2 at 5. Was playing at 9 30.... Sigh...

yeah I have it... 🙂 only friends list get screwy(which would apply to everyone)

goddamnit yesterday it worked and now its saying it can't connect to some VAC server. i have all the ports it requested opened up and still no. hell, i even tried putting myself in the DMZ in case i'm just an idiot and that didn't work.

anyone up for some instagib UT?

Steam is a good idea implemented horribly.

Though after I quit relying on Friends (read: after I quit using it and started using Xfire) my opinion went up a few points in favor of steam.

Edit: Ok the friends list is . . . not so good.

The Friends list is the worst thing evar. I've lost track of the number of people that I wanted to play against again, and it's wiped them off :|

Steam is a good idea implemented rather well, considering.

What I like about Steam: Games are always up to date, new released content is always there when you need it, you don't have to go from site to site trying to download crap all the time.

Get off dialup or upgrade your comp, that might help...

A phatter pipe won't make up for poor application design. I'm on a 5 Mb cable connection, and Steam takes almost 2 minutes of foreground execution time in order to start up. I can't even open a browswer window while it's clicking away, because Steam sucks all available resources dry from my machine.... mindless.
