Bull for that little bit of damage.

I had the driver's door handle pried out of my 951, they had to re-form the metal around the door handle and re-paint both the door and a portion of the quarter panel to blend it. $750 from a very high-end shop.

I would be absolutely shocked if this was more than $1,000.

Depends where you are at and the quality of the body man more than likely....people can get a whole car painted for $300 too.

It's not like I took my Porsche to Maaco or Earl Scheib for the repair.

Granted, if the entire plastic bumper cover needs to be replaced it may be more expensive, but I still seriously doubt that it will be over $800 unless something is broken under the sheet metal, which is not very likely.

Those cheap plastic bumpers usually run $1800 ish, ripoff yeah.

I've got a tiny hole in my rear bumper and I'm afraid of even checking wrecking yards, last time I looked a used shell off a totaled car was $1000

I had someone turn too sharply and nearly rip out the turn signal assembly on my old Grand Marquis. If it had been pushed out any further, the wires would have been snapped.
I had someone else leave a nasty gash and rip off the fuel door to my Chrysler.
Neither one left a note.
Oh, did you know that if you don't have a fuel door, people take it as an invitation to steal your gas cap?

They weren't stealing your gas cap, they were having their way with your car. It must have rolled away somewhere.

It all depends on what they do!

Scenario 1: Fix the fender - more money shot at the body tech to repair it, but less money towards the painter and the amount of paint used.

Scenario 2: Replace the fender - less money at body man, but new fender + paint = high cost as well.

Also, you should ask them to compare the labor rates of the body man to the new fender and more paint because you might get stuck getting a new bumper cover and you'll have to get that painted as well. If the bumper cover is recoverable then it should cost less to get the paint blended into it and the fender repaired rather than getting everything replaced new and painted.

So ask a lot of questions and try to see if your bumper cover is recoverable.

I got a big scratch at the rear bumper at a Costco parking lot, a door dent that I didn't noticed till I wash my car, and a long deep scrape across 2 doors seemingly vandalized by a screw driver while parking at a apartment complex. Of course no one left a note. It's hard to see honest ppl when money is involved now.

I had this happen to me at a gym in Issaquah too.
I was getting ready to leave and some people were coming in. They said how a person hit a car and just left and start describing the car that was hit.
So I'm like, "That's my car!" and sure enough, bumper and front grill got hit and cracked.

The girl at the front desk of the gym with the witnesses figure out who it was. Called up the police and the officer paid him a nice visit. (Could have been arrested for felony hit-and-run, etc.) Officer got him to fully pay up and admit to the accident.

Check with security if there are any cameras, etc that could help find out who it was...

ULTRA COMBO!: find fender at a U-PICK-IT and repaint....

FTW!: find fender that matches both in color and fade. You'd be surprised what 'buffs' out on a junkyard pull.

It's a great plan, but not many RSX's of that year are in the junk yard, and if they were they're either front end collisions or totaled all the way through.

Went to a few different body shops and asked about both fixing old fender and replacing it and they ended up with less than $50 difference no matter which option was chosen.

and for the record, I got quotes of $1100 to $1300.

I see the cost on your fender new is only $341.20 list...you should be able to find it new for around $200 via online vendors and possibly locally depending on the discount structure they have.

a salvage fender would have only saved you about $150 if you were lucky in this case.

What is the labor time they are quoting?

Is the replacement fender Honda/Acura or is it aftermarket? Because if it's aftermarket I would just look for some yourself. Good luck! Hope everything turns out well.
