I'm a fruit juice junkie. Just last night I guzzled a quart/liter of pear "nectar" and grape juice. Anyway, I go to one of those off-brand stores fairly often (for me) and they have all these different nectars from Europe and at really good prices. $3.5 for pure pomegranate juice. I saw this bottle with "mango" on the label and I was thinking, ok, the guava is yellow, pear is yellow, peach is yellow, this is yellow. How bad can it be.

I really can't explain what I don't like about it though. It hits your tongue with a nice, fresh, sweet taste but the aftertaste is like . . . IDK. Mango-flavored sweat socks maybe?

With most things I can identify the offending taste. So for cilantro - soap, as an example. I might have to buy more just so I can try to work that out. And yes, in my universe, that makes perfect sense. Hehe

Flavor's alright, but they're a PITA to eat. Not a fan of fruit juice of any kind.

I don't think I've met a fruit I don't like yet besides Durian. That shit made me gag. Every other one has been at least tasty on some level.

I hate them. My mom loves them.

Fruit juices are better than sodas but they are almost always still sugar bombs.

I remember getting the original ones by the bushels when I was a kid. Relatives had mango trees so there was plenty. I don't find it that hard to eat if you are willing to get messy.

Also, any sort of fruit juice is nothing like the ripe fruit.

I like fresh mangos, not all are good though. They're seasonal afaik. I've had some that just knock my socks off, others that are meh.

There's some frozen chunks that go well in smoothies

Aso, they are very high in sugar, iirc highest out of fruits

I love eating and drinking Mango nectar. Get mango from either Mexican or Asian mkt, they are of the sweet variety,

Fresh mango when in season is amazing. The dried organic mango at Costco with no additives is also totes delish.

OMG, I have heard that so many times about durian. I so torn though. The taste is supposed to be very nice, but I have a fairly twitchy gag reflex. It's also selective. Some stuff doesn't bother except for being vaguely unpleasant and those things I habituate to pretty quickly. Other things though . . . don't let me go anywhere near.

I remember one time, I left some sort of pasta on stove. Not straight pasta but ravioli, lasagna, something with dairy in it. Normally, I leave such things uncovered but I must have been in one of my "fugue states" (kidding, mostly) and it completely disappeared from memory. I'm not sure how many days later it was that I noticed it, but when I did . . . indescribable. It's a minor miracle that I didn't toss my cookies right there.
I don't care for the flavor of mango either, it has the funkiness as you describe.
"FUNKY!!!!" Yes. So much better than my description. thanx

When my daughter was little, I gave her a knife and a mango and told her to have fun. She was in tears by the time she got it apart :^D

I'm with you regarding cilantro, what a rude herb. It's coriander, but you're too late.

Mango though? *drooling begins*

Bring them to me. Now. And give them wings.

Every now and then I order primo fruit, and mangoes are generally the main gig. Eating a perfectly ripe high end mango is an orgy for your mouth.

Was it from a knife wound?

I've seen laypeople unfamiliar with mangoes cut the ever living shit out of themselves on more than one occasion.

No, it was from having a messy disaster on a plate, and having a really unfun time trying to get it apart.

Our trees probably produce a solid 500 - 750lbs of mango per year. My favorite 2-3 months of the year. If you've never suckled on Jeeebus' sweet mango, you haven't truly lived.

Sweet Jeeebus that's a lot of mango. I am greenish, orangish and red with envy. Let me know if you guys need any primo sugar bush reduction, I am all about that barter action.

You should grow a paw paw tree, sounds like you got the horses for it.
