So I was just about to close my laptop and head to bed, but then some idiots car alarm goes off. This would have been alright if the owner were to promptly turn the alarm off or if the alarm stopped beeping after about a minute. But no this one is still going.

On a side note I was at a Wal-Mart and in the parking lot some guys climb into their honda civic, start it up, crank the apparently impressive stereo they have to the max and proceed to set off the car alarms of cars next to them.

Also I have a friend with a Mazda RX-8 and it has the weirdest car alarm ever. I swear the thing was possessed, it would just randomly go off for no reason. A car would drive by and the alarm would go off but if someone pushed the car or sat on it nothing happened.

See my thread about becoming my neighbor.

A) Why would anyone need a car alarm
B) Loud obnoxious music from a car? Haven't heard that since I moved out of the city, except once a month when I go to the city to run some errands.

Even worse are the morons that leave their alarms on during the 4th of July, ruining the festivities for dozens of other people.

there are good car alarm installs and a lot of bad ones.

There are bad house alarm installs as well but after a few falses you are penalized.

I am all for cops investigating every false car alarm and ticketing them. You'd have asshats though setting off someone's alarm for fun though.

*I* know what to do, but that doesn't help when a 20 year old van sitting 10 feet from you has its alarm going off for 30 seconds every two minutes.

I would suggest that if it is possible to set off the alarm without at the least rocking the car back and forth, then it is a poorly installed alarm system.

You know, after all the crap that people started doing after "Fast and the Furious" to imitate the garbage in that movie, the one thing that hasn't been imitated is the idea of stabbing something into a vehicle and shorting out all the electrical systems...

Someone needs to start selling such a device on ebay... Taser for cars..
You're sitting at the stoplight, BOOM BOOOOM BOOM BOOOM BADDA BOOM BOOOOM... pulls up along side you,
Aim, zap, BOOoo oo o m.
