I realize I am driving my car too much... for those of you who want to keep your miles semi-low... what's your plan?

Hey guys, so I have this G35 with 13K miles on it... after a year of driving, and in my first week w/ this sales job I've put on 500 miles...

It's because... I drive to and from work which is 45 miles roundtrip--then I have to go on calls/appointments throughout the day which amount to a variable bit (sometimes 50 miles and sometimes just 20, etc, etc)

The fact of the matter is, I bought the car for the image for my job... however, I figure at this rate--nearly 24K a year is too much ...

For those of you with similar situations, how do you divide up the time to drive your car? Do you pick certain days to go to work? Or do you just not care?

Not much you can do.

Either hope to get a mileage allowance at work , or just bite the bullet and try to make enough money to cover the cost of the car you are killing the value on.

Image is one thing, but when it costs you so much in auto value due to basically destroying a cars value by racking up miles on it, makes you want to buy a used Taurus.

I wish gas was a buinsess expense for me

That sounds like fun!

I dont use my car to commute, only for fun. 6000 miles in the last 12 months.

Low.

Thats about what my wife drives, her car is a cream puff.

Me, I rack up 100-150 miles a day, my truck is a high mileage mobile trash sack. I can see the value plummet as the odometer rolls along on its merry way.

15k is considered normal. Car salesman like to use 12k so they can say you're car isn't worth as much when you trade in, but 8k is low.

Yeah, 12k used to be normal a few years back, and I am beginning to think that 15k is actually a bit low for average miles. 20k miles seems a little more realistic for average mileage.

You hardly ever see a 2 year old car with 30k miles or less. Of course my wife being the noteable exception, she has had her car 30 months and put a whopping 20k miles on it. That includes about about 3 1000 mile weekend trips for us.

Dude, it's a car. If you don't drive it, what are you going to do, sleep in it?

(Bought a car at 60k, 11months later it was at 105k)

I bought my Lexus about 2 or 2 1/2 years ago and put over 90k miles on it........It's my 8itch

I'm really tired of the car. No problems with it, but I think it's time to move on.

Dont worry about it - i drive about 600 miles every week too. If you love the car and love to drive - which I am sure you do being a fellow G owner - I am sure it is well worth it.
