Back in January I trashed my automatic transmission. This was partially (lol) all my fault. So I proceeded to perform the swap to a manual transmission.

Two days later, I was driving my dad's Caravan, and the brakes blew out. I drove home on the e-brake for this one. That was bad.

Fast forward to this week. Tuesday, on the way to my graduation rehearsal, my engine pukes. The mechanic just told me that there was a coolant blockage, and coolant wasn't circulating. Fucking peachy. So it started burning oil. And never once did it overheat, because for whatever reason the water near the thermostat stayed cool.

The guy asked me if my car ever had piston rings, because mine were so burnt up they were practically not there. YAY!

A DAY after that, I was driving my dad's Buick and the upper radiator hose decided that it didn't need to stay in one piece. Guess what that led to? OVERHEAT BABY! I don't even want to know the diagnosis for this.

So now I'm going to be pulling my engine and transmission. Time to put a new engine in. Oh sweet jesus this is about to be a project and a half again.

If you go into bicycles, bring an extra chain, brakes, brake cables, multiple patch kits, and a whole spare tire. Hell, carry another bike on your back.

How long did you drive the Buick after the upper radiator hose blew? If you didn't drive it for too long, it probably didn't sustain any damage.

That's how I've managed to make it through this. Laughing it off at times is the only way.

What the hell have you been doing?

Sounds like it did overheat locally. Unlucky man.

Yeah, why not just buy a new car? Preferably made in a country where car companies aren't health services and pension distributors.

It probably would, but that would require me to sell my non running car.

At my level of income, (17 year old going into college in the fall), I can afford to fix this, lol. Buying a new one would be a bit out of the question.
