I played the Sonic the Hedgehog demo for the 360.

This game sucks balls.

Now let me articulate.

First, let me get the graphics out of the way. The graphics are nice, but what's with the low, or no anisotropic filtering. I brings me back to the Dreamcast. Well, at least it's trilinear this time.

The gameplay sucks. He runs sooo slow. I thought he was fast. What a let down. That is enough for me to stop playing the game, but let's continue. The demo puts crap in your way all the time and it's so complex, I don't even know where to go.

My favorite 3d Sonic game was Sonic Adventure. I loved that game because you could just keep running, with little annoyances getting in your way. You were free to just feel the speed and look at the nice graphics. Even though they may not be nice compared to today's standards... actually, they still are damn nice, some of the textures on there were top notch even for today. Anyway, it's still a fun game. I rather pop that game in a DC anytime than be forced to play this demo ever again. And I can play it over and over and over. That's a kick ass game.

Sonic is about speed, not crap getting in your way. Sonic Adventure made you feel like you were in a fast rollercoaster and that made it awsome. This demo feels like I'm in a kiddie ride that makes frequent stops so I can destroy things. Choo- choo. Fvck that! I want to move!

I'd like to know the fvcks that complained that all you do was hold forward in Sonic Adventure. Which led the Sonic Team to release Sonic Adventure 2, which crippled the original Sonic Adventure formula a little. And then the games just got rediculous, and this is where it ended up - Crapsville. The only thing I hated about the original Sonic Adventure, besides the voice syncing issues, was not playing with Sonic. Knuckles sucks, who care about finding an emerald, how boring was that. I wanted to run. The Sonic games would've been so much better if they focused more on Sonic and fun levels, and speed; not different characters. Nobody buys a Sonic game to not play with Sonic. Stupid Sonic Team.

As a reference: I liked Sonic the Hedgehog 2 & 3, Sonic and Knuckles, Sonic CD, and Sonic Adventure 1 & 2.

I liked Sonics 1-3 and S&K, but that's where it stops. That 3D crap is annoying.

I played alot of the first 3 then stopped. It all just seemed like the same thing. But I really enjoyed Sonic for Dreamcast. The GFX was new gen and it was something new. But after that I didn't bother playing much of the 2nd or any of the other Sonics once Sega killed off the DC.

I didn't like some of the auto-targeting aspects, especially when it came to auto-targeting a rail and finding out that I didn't have it targeted when I'm falling into the abyss :(.

I was hoping that Sonic for the 360 would be the first good 3D Sonic game but alas it is garbage. Sonic should never be in 3D..ever again. I saw footage of the upcoming Sonic game for the PSP (Sonic Rivals) and that game uses 3D graphics but plays like a 2D game (ala Klonoa for the PS2 or Ultimate Ghosts n' Goblins for the PSP).

I don't know what the hell happened to Sega but the company that got me into videogaming in the 80's with classics like Shinobi, Fantasy Zone, Alex Kidd, Space Harrier, Outrun, Golden Axe..etc... has turn to shi1t. Did I age myself?? oh well.

If you like Sonic 2 I recommend Sonic CD. What ruined Sonic was a plot if you asked me. The simpler the plot the more focused on game play and not voice acting. I agree sonic levels should be about speed, danger and killing crazy mechanical bosses. I liked Sonic Adventure 1 but I disliked Adventure 2 and Sonic Hero. I am sad to hear that new sonic game follows the new trend. I wish they would put special stages back in so you can earn super sonic and play him anywhere.

Sonic has not been the only Sega Series that was trashed by game play. Ecco The dolphin was another great 2D game that died when it went 3D. I still am hoping for Ecco to return on DS in 2D.

I played Sonic CD as well, just forgot to mention it. Sonic CD was awsome.

I liked the special stages, but never got to super sonic, I think the most emeralds I've ever gotten were 4 or 5, but no more.

Will you be trying the Sonic Wii? It's supposed to be the better of the products.... But I know how that console is a joke and has absolutely no challenging games, the controlling is a gimmick, eh. So you might want to skip on that one also.

VIAN.. this game may suck but... why do you have to hate on EVERYTHING? You post the bad reviews of the PS3 and Wii, you hate on CS:S all the time.. i'm just wondering why you complain about every thing you've seen recently. No offense, but seeing threads with VIAN in the post starter almost make me not want to read them because i'm probably going to see 3+ fvcks, at least a couple 'sucks balls', and most likely it's just going to be whining about another game. It's just getting old.
Oh, and, BTW, what is with the 360's texture filtering? I thought that the GPU could handle high AA and AF... I wonder that too.

I doubt that even the Wii could save this game. My brother didn't like the demo either.

Because... a lot of stuff sucks. It's not me, it's everything else. I'm not hating on the PS3 so much as I'm hating Sony. The PS3 is, as I've said, an amazing piece of hardware. Sony is the idiot to release it, however cause it costs too much and that shall be the reason for it's failure. And CS:S, although fun at times, you have to admit it's a game with serious issues. And I blame Valve for that one. My pet peeve is when things don't work properly and CS:S is there.

Why do you ask me about the texture filtering, I didn't make the crappy game. Seriously, if I tell you something sucks, I'm not just saying it. I try to back it up. I try to get my point across. If you don't agree with it, then it's just my opinion. But there is logic to my mayhem. Do you think I'm doing just to spite things? This is how I see it and it's sad. It is sad that things have to be this way. I expect more and live up to higher standards that what is dished out most of the time. I want great games, not just good games. You may just settle for good games, but at least read what I'm upset about so that you understand why. Maybe you may not like it as well.

Sonic really does run slow. There is no sense of speed in this one. Guess that's why they advertise it as: "This time, speed won't be enough..." Who knew that they were actually telling the truth. I'm not the only one that thinks this games sucks you know: Gamespot gave it a 4.4. Check that out.

Wii is getting a completely different Sonic game. More like the original games. It's 3D but you are on 'rails' similar to the original 2Ds.

OK, sorry VIAN. I misunderstood. It's just that there have been an influx of your threads saying stuff isn't good. :) And I agree, this game sucks. I was just making sure you weren't being weird about... I dunno. Also, CS:S doesn't have any problems for me... oh well. Again, sorry. :) Oh, and as for the filtering, I was just asking an unanswerable question. It was more like me just wondering.

Sonic Team dropped the ball a long time ago. I doubt they'll ever get Sonic back into shape.
