Hi.

I plan to get a 6800GS and i want to over-clock it.
I have a few questions.

1...If any one has a EVGA 6800GS and has over clocked it please tell me what software you used(Also how to use it).

2..Also is stock cooling fine for over clocking this video card or should get an after market cooler.

Thanks for the help.

I have an evga 7800gt. Download either coolbits or the latest rivatuner. Overclock in small increments, and check for artifacts in games.

Thanks for the info, also do you think an after market cooler is required for over clocking a 6800GS.

I dont have a 6800gs, but nobody can tell you off the bat if you need an aftermarket cooler unless the card is known to have a weak stock cooler. Depending on what temps you get when OC'd, how much thermal paste is sitting under that cooler, your case airflow, and how much fan noise you can tollerate, you may be ok with the stock cooler. On my OC'd gto for example, the stock cooler was good enough and the temps never reched 80C. Other people with the same card have gotten past 80C on stock cooling, at which point I would definitely replace it.

You might want to replace the cooler anyways, since it will be quieter and MAY give you more OC head room.
