After 6 years I am leaving. Nothing wrong with the company. Just thought it was about time.

I'm wondering if I should do it in the morning or right before the work day ends.

well...I just gave my letter to the boss. He says he understands what I need to do. Still feels a little awkward having to sit here another 2 hrs.

Since it's a "2 week notice" and not like "I'm quitting" ... Do it Friday night

It seems like managers usually react in a weird way. If you do it Friday before you leave, it'll give the manager the weekend to cool down and figure things out and things should be cool on Monday.

If you are quitting right then and there.. in the morning.. so you have time to pack up and close loops.

ding ding ding ding ding!

yes i think the whole day will be awkward. you and your boss won't be able to see eye to eye.

handing it at the end of the day means you will be fretting over it the entire day and not be able to focus on your work.

take your pick

I think the time of day says a lot about the person handing in the notice personally.

I voted in the morning.

"We prefer to can people on Friday. Statistics say there's less chance of any problems."

Return the favor.

Why is this such a big deal? If you have a good relationship with them, it should be no big deal what time you give it to them.

And I take it that you are taking a 2 week paid leave the next two weeks. Not sure why people do that, it is not that big a deal.

I voted in the morning.

I'm just curious, what does each option say about a person? Is it that the person who chooses the morning has enough balls to do the deed and face the employer the rest of the day? And giving notice right before leaving for the day is cowardly? I would personally choose some time in the afternoon.
