WTFBBQ. The only time I have ever made a purchase at BB was with my parents a few weeks ago when we bought our Sony LCD HDTV set. Other than that I see no reason to buy there.

Fry's is the ultimate cheap@$$ place to go w/ HD rebates and what not. Sure we can't get slickdeals that involve $5 HDs, but living in Silicon Valley, I think it would be pretty hard to find BBs and CCs that would give us those stacking rebates + PMing, as I have tried at two local CompUSAs before and 2 Staples, and I gave up. Just stick with the bread and butter (Fry's) is my new motto.

I don't see any place that has the kind of selection Fry's has. I went to BB the other day to find s-video cables for my laptop, and I found only ONE item that was out of stock. ONE? I can find you a whole AISLE of freaking audio + video cables ranging from $2 stuff to $100 monster cables @ Fry's. At CompUSA I found only Pure-AV which is by Belkin I believe? ANyways, that stuff is expensive as sh!t too. $39 s-video cable just for my laptop? Why can't I buy the $5 stuff here?

Sucks... next time I go home, I'm hitting up Fry's and getting all my cheap cables. Just last week I remember having an array of $5 - $20 RCA audio cables to pick from and an array of $20 - $100 ones also... It took me forever just to pick one out simply because there were so many that I could get...

I mean seriously.. pure selection... I couldnt even find the keyboard I wanted at BB or CompUSA last time my roommate got drunk and killed my keyboard with alcohol... I found it with ease @ Amazon and at Fry's adn its no special set.. just a Logitech multimedia corded keyboard...

Seriously. All you EE's out there: Fry's has most of the stuff that a good component retailer would have (i.e. your local B&M equivalent of Jameco/Mouser/Digikey), plus a full library of software, reall obsure movies, programming books, and all the regular PC hardware that you need.

I miss Fry's when I'm up in Reno. :(

I have outpost.com and I don't pay sale tax when I order from there. I'd rather not have a fry's physicall appearance in the state of new york as long as I don't pay taxes when I order from outpost.com.

Outpost usually doesn't beat other online stores, but Frys is about the same as online stores, since for reasonably small purchases tax ~ shipping. When I need something quick, Fry's is the ultimate resource. Plus, I'm not sure if Fry's being in state would mean you had to pay tax on outpost.

From what I've heard Fry's is awesome but we have none around here. All the best B&M deals seems to come from Fry's.

They just put up the sign this weekend for the newest Fry's less than a mile away from where I live, I got so excited seeing that sign up that I almost ran off the road :p

Yep it's the same company. I was really t'd off cause a Fry's opened about 2 hours from here. Now I have to pay sales tax on crap. Yeah I quit ordering from them. Not worth it anymore.

We finally got a Fry's here in the sticks.

Opened for last Christmas.

I don't do much business with them (they are 30 miles away) but it's nice to know they're here.

I visited the one in Manhattan Beach when I was in California for business. I was not impressed. The best way I can describe it to those that haven't been there is Newegg + Wal-Mart = Frys. The product selection was like that of Newegg but the clientele and dirty store reminded me of Wal-Mart. Perhaps other locations are different.

I lived near a Fry's in SoCal for a while, now up here in AK there are none. But I prefer it that way, personally. My experiences at Fry's have shown me that even the Best Buy hirelings know more about computers than the Fry's jockeys. (Avoid the Burbank, CA Fry's!!!)

They vary but its definitely not a place one goes to cherish the shopping experience beyond accessing a large electronics inventory and getting a deal on many items.

Doesnt matter to me. Even if there were one withing a reasonable driving distance, I would still not shop there.
