I mean people have didn't have to add numbers or letters to to their preferred nick because someone else picked it first.

There are several Kaiser Sozes here, just to be 2 Crazysomethings I think... haven't seen many people with duplicates other than that. I don't have numbers in any of my usernames for anything - IM, forums, websites. But then I don't have a name like LinkinParkFan or something like that.
