Steals the ball from a guy in the Americas qualifying tournament, then he gets to the other end, underneath the hoop. No one near him for 30 feet+. He stops. HOLDS the ball out in one hand to the guy on the other team to get it, as a kind of "Take that" symbol. Stands there like that for a couple seconds, then dunks it. Guy on the other teams goes right at him after that. Hate McGrady. Ass.

It's called poor sportsmanship.

the other guy prolly had it coming.
I hear that the other international teams get away with so much crap just because they suck

You obviously don't know many NBA players, I respect T-mac more than most of them.

And that's another reason I hate basketball... too many egos and they often show it.

"During a halftime interview on HF Sports, McGrady said he turned back toward Casiano because he thought he heard a whistle -- not because he was taunting him" (from ESPN article)

seems innocent enough. McGrady doesn't seem the type to do that but then again I didn't see the play.

Yea, he doesn't seem the type to do that.. I've never witnessed him doing any taunting.. he always seems so laid back on the court.

he meant it. and1 style. imo its fine on the playground to embarrass a guy. if your messing around, then fine... but it really doesnt have a place in a professional setting. i thought tmac was better than that...

in the all star game, some guy bounced the ball of the defenders head? that was alright. the game was a showboat contest anyways.

I always thought he was a class guy.

That doesn't sound like class at all tho, what an a-hoe if thats what happened.

I hope brown had the balls to bench him after that.

just read that on espn - that's wrong. :| just like that dumb ass Charles Barkeley giving the angolan player a cheap shot elbow to the chest when he was on the original dream team.

EDIT: angolan, not kenyan

I saw video of this on ESPN last night...the guy he stole the ball from was literally jabbing his ass back at McGrady trying to back McGrady down, McGrady on the other hand was all over the guy trying to get the ball (no fouling though). The guy with the ball also left his feet twice he was pushing so hard attempting to back him off...At one point McGrady stood back and gave the guy a "WTF" look because he was certainly not backing him down normally, essentially the guy was jumping into McGrady....so he reached around and stole the ball

The taunt at the other end was not as bad as you make it sound, he tipped the ball away from the guy and you could hear what sounded like a whistle. The ball rolled towards the other end of the court but no-one ran after it but TMAC, who got to the other end, grabbed the ball....looked back to see no-one was coming and then dunked it. Verbal trash talking ensued when he returned to the other end of the court.

that sounds more realistic...

I've watched tons of basketball and nba players who go on a solo fast break often turn their heads back to ensure no one's going to surprise them with an embarrasing block.

btw, T-Mac > Kobe

Umm, the "cheap shot" was against an Angolan player.

He didn't just stop, he stopped and held out the ball for the guy. Here is from ESPN

"Casiano eventually lost the ball and fell to the floor, with the ball rolling downcourt toward the American basket. McGrady jogged down and picked the ball up as the other nine players stayed at the other end of the floor. Before dunking it, McGrady turned and stared at Casiano."

They do not mention that he held the ball out, but they did say it on Sportscenter, and you can see it.

Now that I saw it, it wasn't that big of a deal.

The puerto rican player tried to post up mcgrady shaq-style from about 5 feet inside the half-court line! wth??? Tmac got pissed and stole the ball, picked it up a few steps from the basket, turned and showed the ball towards the guy then scored. Then on his way back to the other end after the basket, threw his chest into the other player hard.

I think this was more about some contact earlier in the game that wasn't shown in the highlights. The crowd boo'ed the crap out of him tho.
