Clear Channel, in all it's infinite wisdom, yesterday pulled Houston's only Rock station and replaced it with.......Latino music! No more Ozzy, Black Sabbath, Metallica, Pink Floyd (not that I'm that much of a fan), Van Halen, RUSH... RUSH....No more RUSH....I think I'm going to cry....or re-activate my XMRadio. That will help in one car, but not the other. I guess it's back to alternative music in the other car.

It's a sad day in the Houston music scene.

our mainstream rock station converted to conservative talk radio, and our classic rock station went to oldies. all i have left is the alternative station.

Fortunately there's enough "white trash" factor to keep our classic rock stations alive and well. We have three in NW Ohio alone and there' in the top 6 in station ratings :)

Well I guess not enough people listen to it. I personally hate classic rock stations because, not surprisingly, they have no material. I listen to music all the time and boys of summer, white hot, baracuda, etc. I can't fvcking stand anymore. That's the problem with time-specific stations; they become very boring! I used to like the classic rock station back home until, three years later, i realized they were playing the same mix CD. then it started to tire on me :)

Birmingham has a great 80's station I used to listen to a lot, but now that I've gone through their playlist several times I can't listen to it anymore.

WIOT in Toledo OH is probably one of the best classic rock stations in the country. They're still a good portion of requests, they play a lot of "B Side" material, and they play new rock as well. A perfect mix :)

They killed a station here in Chicago with spanish... I don't believe the station survived after that :( I miss it... they used to play like 90%+ of 80's music

one good repost/rant deserves another

They did the same thing here in Denver. there were two great rock stations, one was 97 The Peak and had Nina Blackwood on in the afternoons. she had an awesome lineup. now its nothing but mexican circus music.

In due time, everything in the southwest will be hispanic.

la raza movement will declare victory with their agenda of successful but slow integration of their culture and maybe secede the southwest states as part of current mexico.

Heh. Back in the day, radio conversion SAVED ME from the life of depravity that pop music induces. The pop station got converted to county (WTFBBQ?)

Our (Hearst broadcasting) rock station fortunately covers almost all of Maryland, most of Delaware, parts of PA, a big chunk of VA and a chunk of WV. Those markets aren't much into anything else. In fact, the only market that they cover and don't absolutely DOMINATE is Baltimore City and Washington, DC.

My dad listened to them back in the day, and at this rate, my kids probably will, too. They're in no danger of going bankrupt (They're the same entity as our NBC affiliate station and AM radio news station), they don't syndicate anything, and are, in general, one of the healthiest stations in radio.

But Walton & Johnson didn't suck. That's what got me to work in the morning, they always talked about the radio ranking system and how minorities had a weighted input.

I'm used to FM radio being suckage. Maybe because I don't listen to anything remotely mainstream, hah.

Radio is like 50% ads, 15% annoying radio guy, 35% of the same few crappy songs over and over.

They did the same thing here in the Bay Area to KSJO, who had also been around like 30 something years. What pissed me off most, is KSJO actually had a pretty good morning show with Mikey, but now that's gone.

Yes clear channel is destroying radio like mtv destroyed music videos. ahh well, they're stinking rich and can do whatever they want. what do they care what we think?

I took a trip from south texas to florida, and every radio station i tuned into was fookin CLEAR CHANNEL and they all (and I mean every single damn one) played the EXACT SAME SONGS, sometimes they would play them in the EXACT SAME ORDER!! and I mean, these were different radio stations, in DIFFERENT STATES, and they were exaclty the same! and their morning programs? exactly the same, two people saying the same damn jokes then playing the same damn songs over and over and over.

are there really that many people who are willing to listen to that crap? I mean, there can't be can there? CAN THERE?

thank god clear channel doesn't own npr it's the only thing i listen to on the radio.
