That's because those types of I/O shields have a couple of little metal tabs that stick out and contact the tops of some of the ports. The padded I/O shields don't have those tabs because they contact the fronts of the ports (at least when the metallic padding is there...).Originally posted by: TripleAAA
I removed the padding because there was just no way the mobo would line up. I pushed a bit, but was concerned that I would bend the connectors. I guess I'll just have to risk that and since not many of the I/O shields have that pad, then I should be ok.
