Just upgraded to windows XP for a friend who has an old Compaq. I formatted and everything went perfect except the modem is having a conflict and can't use the requested I/O range it needs. In device manager is says something like, "The device could not start because the firmware did not give the device the requested resources" or some bull like that. I tried un-checking use automatic configuration and setting the resources manually but no luck there. It appears the device that is using the modems I/O range is something called ISAPNP Read Data Port under system devices. If anyone can give advice and or tips and tricks that would be great. The only thing I can think of is physically switching the modem into a different PCI slot, which I doubt will fix the problem because she had 95 before and everything worked before as is. Thanks.
