The reason they are greyed out is ACPI is enabled.
It handles the I/O addressing and IRQ(s).

What specific errors are you getting?
Mabe if you post them, we may be able to find a work around.

how do u disable acpi?

these are the conflicts that im getting

You may want to uninstall the SB Audigy drivers and to clean as much
of it out as possible. Shut down and physically remove the card.

Reboot.

Uninstall the nVidia drivers. Set the video to VGA.

Reboot.

Then try installing the nVidia drivers.

If all goes well, reinstall the SB card and make sure to use
the latest SB drivers for your card.

Sound Blaster Audigy Platinum eX DriverPack

Also, did you disable the onboard sound in the BIOS?

To disable ACPI would require you to reinstall Windows over the
exsisting install, but choosing a STANDARD PC HAL.
You are much better off letting ACPI handle the addressing as it
will generally do a better job then doing it manually.

yes o/b sound is disabled

i did everything u suggested.. still no fix

is it possible that my motherboard is just setup that way and there is nothing i can do to fix? it was a realitively cheap mobo after all.,,, maybe it doesnt have the resources to give everything its own i/o port? im dumbfounded at this point...

maybe if i kick it (ponders)

any other suggestions?

Windows XP likes to override the BIOS whenever possible.

You might want to try disabling unused resources like:
(whatever you are not currently using)

Serial Ports
Game Port
Midi Port
CIR Port Address
Modem RingOn

Freeing up the resources might just get you what you need.

cant disable serial ports .. causes irq conflicts (lol more conflicts is all i need)

the rest are disabled tho... still no fix

in theroy** if i were to
A) format and install a different mobo would it fix?
B)new video card? would that reassign i/o port addresses?
C)new processor? ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^?
D)could i (and i know this sounds stupid) uninstall my processor and/or smbus controller?

btw thanks for at least trying to help me resolve this. i appreciate your time and effort

I don't believe the Video card is the problem.

It's more than likely the CIR (infared) port that is the issue.
(reinforced by you having IRQ conflicts with the serial ports disabled)

There is a possiblity if you reinstall the OS fresh, with everything
disabled that you do not need that it may correct itself.

If you do reinstall the OS, try it without the SB card installed.

Yes. A Clean Install (format) would be the best option.
(providing you are not using a UPGRADE CD)

Yes. Disable everything that is not needed before doing
reinstalling the OS.
