I/O Magic = BENQ?

I just picked up a IO Magic IDVD16DLS and the drive itself says it is a BENQ DW1655. Anyone know what is up with that? I ran a quick Google search that did not show anything.
 
To my knowledge, I/O Magic re-badges peripherals from different manufacturers (like BENQ, NEC, etc.)

The tricky part though is that I/O Magic also re-badges crappy stuff so it's almost like a gamble when you buy with that brand name.
 
Not uncommon.

As was mentioned, many of those no-name companies rebadge other companies' products to sell.

In this case, you got a better drive 🙂
