Whenever I try and copy or unrar files from my USB flash drive (4 GB) or from a DVD onto my computer's HDD it gives me this error: 'The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error'. My hard-drive is a WD Caviar Blue (320 GB) and it was running fine till today morning when I got this. Tried to copy, unrar after re-booting but no luck. Often times while copying it'll show me 180 minutes left which I think is just too much for a 700/800 MB data transfer!
Afaik, it's could be the HDD acting up, but I'm not too sure. Any ideas? Should I run the Data Lifeguard Diagnostic for Windows to check for any errors on the drive? Any help is very much appreciated!
TIA
Edit: Just tried copying the files from a dvd to the hard-drive in Safe-mode, problem persisted.
