(taking this at face value, since 8-minute load times don't (can't!) exist irl), a gb is a big upgrade over 512mb for even normal winXP usage, much less cutting-edge games.

Heh, that's nothing... I have a few servers at work that have 12, and I have one on order that will have 16. Problem is that the consumer versions of Windows only see 4 GB, so you need to run something like Windows 2000 Advanced Server or Red Hat Enterprise Linux to be able to utilize that much memory.

I'm a bit jealous, though... Even though my laptop has a Gig of memory, it won't play Half Life 2 because the graphics card on it sucks :(

Kinda like bragging about having a big penis on a penis enlargement forum.

The Gross National Product of Botswana is less than half that of the nation formerly known as French Indochina.

All memory for contemporary PCs is SDRAM, unless you've got RDRAM. :)

Half-life crashed hard, but I finally got it up and running

WOW...OMG...da-amn...HALF-LIFE IS SO SMOOTH NOW. It used to stutter like hell with constant disk access (paging) but now, it has managed to impress me again (as if that takes much ;) )

Perhaps it also has to do with the fact that DDR was running @ 64bits(or whatever it is) wide since I only had one stick of RAM. Now I guess the DDR mode is helping out.

2500+@3200
1024MB pc3200:D
WD120GB

9800pro 128MB

HLF2:
1600x1200
All detail setting to max
2AA/2AF

In the CS: source ST
Vsync on: 34.93fps vsync off:40.92 fps

Load times are no ust a few seconds:D I'm happy.

1 GB Dual Channel DDR400 here. i know that's near obsolete for a desktop, but it's not bad for a year old laptop. :)
