I now assume networking isn't so easy, right?

i just want to network two computers-- using that linksys router BEFSR41 -- along with my cable modem from time-warner cable-- so i can share the broadband internet, as well as share files and just use the one printer.

after reading these posts i assume it's not as easy as i had read- i was assuming i would connect the cable from the wall to the cable modem and then to the router-- and then run two CAT 5 cables to the 2 computers from the router-- and, you're done. simple.

but, now i'm reading these posts and ooh wee-- is networking prone to alot of tweeks before getting things working-- and even then, when it's working right, it's not as good as when there was no network at all?

anyone wish to re-build my hopes (and perhaps others) that a simple two computer network is doable without a lot of cuss words along the way?

It is that easy. In fact, large scale networking is also that easy in the general case. It is when something fails to work that networking gets hard, and those who can solve the infrequent hard problems are the ones who are making big bucks in networking. You likely won't have any problems just plugging up and going. In the event that you do, you can learn a whole lot in the time it takes to troubleshoot and fix the problem.
