Many of you may have seen my Tempest thread yesterday, a forum member sent me four Tempests (15" subwoofer driver, massive 15 lb piece of equipment). What I didn't say in the thread was that I had only received two. I received two packages, one of which was two Tempests, one of which contained the following (in a box that had a label addressed to me that said it weighed 36.3 lbs):

1 set of placemats
Two sets of bath towels + matching washcloths
One package of hand towels (ie dish towels)
One package of matching washcloths (ie dish cloths)
One red wire wisk
One red vegetable peeler
One red ice cream scoop
One red spatula

The only thing I can figure is the label for MY package got switched with this virtually worthless 10 lb package.

I called UPS, they gave me the phone number of the UPS Store that shipped the packages. Called the number, a fax machine answered. Looked the number up via the locater, the number is the same.

I called UPS back & now I'm waiting for them to get back to me, but I dunno how good my hopes are.

I mean honestly, how many people are going to report receiving two 15" subwoofer drivers instead of their towels & placemats?

It's possible the guy who sold you the subs screwed you but that looks like new stuff. My initial reaction is surprise, followed by wanting to giggle, but that's not fair to you 🙁 Goodluck!

He didn't get screwed, he had the subs - In fact he took them to the store bare (not in retail packaging) and paid to have them package them. He included the receipt in the package that was lost, I'm supposed to pay him for the shipping. Hopefully that will help, since it should have both tracking numbers on it.

Nah, he didn't screw me. In fact, he GAVE the subs to me - Just wanted the cost of shipping.

The value of the two subs I received by far exceeds the cost of shipping, he would have nothing to gain.

Update:

The UPS Store found my package, luckily it was a simple label swap & the other party (who was expecting the placemats & towels) was honest (or didn't know what they had).

My package is on it's way west again, & I'll be leaving their package outside my door tomorrow morning for UPS to pick it up.

Next step is try to convince them to refund my shipping costs...

I would say about 99% of all human beings. Think about it - you ordered stuff you needed for your new house that you just moved into, and you get a box with a couple of speakers in it. Why would you even want the speakers then?
I have no use for 1 15" sub, let alone two. I'd send it back in a heartbeat.

I doubt it's anywhere near 99%, considering anyone with half a brain would know that big speakers = big $$$. You might not have a use for them, but surely there's someone out there who would pay $0.50 on the dollar to get speaker equipment. You might not have use for $300 in speakers, but $150 cash would be useful to most anyone.

I would have sent them back as well, but sadly I don't have that much faith in the rest of the population. Obviously this time I was wrong, I'll probably write them a note & stick it in the box.
