I no longer believe in Global Warming.. This video is why.

Good for you, I agree the movie is very informational, and very true. As a historian, I have studied and read about climate changes much worse than the one we're going through now. Al Gore is simply a bloody propagandist and he's followed by brain washed penguins.

Yay, here we go again.

I was at a global warming lecture yesterday - part of my job with the college's media center is to film such events - and the audience questions afterwards were quite unsettling. It seems to me that the majority of the population is not only utterly ignorant of how global warming works and why it's a problem, but also utterly ignorany of science in general. This wasn't a college level lecture either, in my opinion; it was dumbed down for public consumption, as this lecture was freely open to anyone wishing to attend. People even have trouble differentiating between short term and long term consequences, and many don't see a need to plan for anything more than just themselves, more than a week or two ahead. Long term? Years down the road, which affects many people? Psh, big deal, who cares? We're in the USA. Bad things don't happen to us.

Just like civilizations in times past which have fallen, too many were too optimistic, they thought rapid growth could go on forever, that resources would never run out, that demand for their powerful presence would never wane. History is in the process of repeating itself, but our inability to look at consequences even after our own tiny lifespans prevents many from conceiving of this.

Believing in global warming is like believing in God. It either exists or it does not, and no amount of belief will change or have any effect whatsoever on that.

Well on the one hand I have the fact that almost every study published in a peer reviewed scientific journal supports the anthropogenic global warming hypothesis, but on the other hand I have an overdramatised science popularisation. I know which one I trust.

Regardless of whether global warming exists, what's wrong with minimizing the impact we're having on the environment?

Its not "omfg we are going to die"

Its all of Florida being under 10-20 feet of water.. Its New York, Seattle, San Fran, Boston, and LA flooded. Its the large portion of arable land in the States turning to desert.

It is no joke. There is so much water held in the now melting polar ice caps to increase sea level a significant amount.

While it is true the earth goes through natural warming and cooling trends, humans are helping to accelerate the next warming phase exponentially.

The NOW melting (you must be joking) the ice caps have been melting since the last ice age!

Even then, it will occur at the rate of 1-2mm a year, so we'll be good for the next 100 years or so. I say we just deny global warming altogether. Let our children and grandchildren deal with it.

Holy sheet, just wow! That is complete and utter sh!t. Lies. They probably paid some talking faces to just get up there and lie. I cut it when they had "scientists" doing some kind of "confessional." As if there is a global, conspiracy of lies and intimidation to continue to receive funding for science that they know is wrong. What a load of sh!t. This is called fraud and would result in a complete lack of creditability--a complete career killer (with possible jail time). The ID people are behind this i can tell, since who ever made this does not know what science is, nor do the ID idiots. Meh, continue your stupid politics. Climatology is science, politicization of one facet of that science to discredit it holistically is quite frankly the most dishonest thing any political movement can achieve. Obviously the anti-global warmers, righties, evangelicals, oil barons, wealthy conspicuous consumers, ignorants, and arrogants are a force to be reckoned with. Good job...

So youre using a bunch of big words to say that consensus is a part of the scientific method?

I missed that step.

Gore lied, it's less than 2 feet, the new IPCC report (and the old one) both confirm this.

Youre saying that an MIT professor of atmospheric science has no credibility at all?

Hmm.

Bill Nye the Science Guy and Heidi Cullen are far more credible sources.

Yes.

The way I see it, since the last ice age, sea levels have risen. Early settlements have been found under 150+ feet of water in Canada (from the Siberian crossing in the propagation of the new world). 150 feet is a lot. Warming happens. Europe went through a "little ice age" during the 15th century (13th to 17th, but it really showed in the 15th). The earth changes temperature.

******, wrong button...

Uhmm...wrong. They became fallen due to their neighbor's economy falling, as a result of a domino effect, wars, court intrigue, etc.

None of their failings had anything to do with local resources being entirely consumed. Their resources might have been badly handled, but never consumed.

Please don't talk about things you don't understand.

Hey dope, it was put on by the British in England, and some guy put it on Youtube. You're a bright one, aren't you?

Wow, someone's a little too upset about a cataclysmic event not happening. Sounds like someone's agenda was trashed.

Nice reading comprehension skills you have got there. I said that scientists that lie to gain further funding will have their credibility stripped. Would you ruin your career for no reason? To put "scientists" up there and claim that there is a conspiracy by other scientists to continue to receive funding is slander. Point out what the guy from MIT said (the video was too pixelated to read names/affiliations). If need be, i will walk to his office on monday to clarify his statement which was likely taken out of context. I doubt he would slander himself on a political piece like this.

There was a couple threads in P&N about this movie....its total bogus. Even one of the scientist interviewed later went on air and said that they totally cut his interview in a way that made it seem as if he was saying something he wasn't. Also, the director said he himself believes in global warming and thinks its a problem.

This is just a movie....just as inconvenient truth. REad the real scientific, peer reviewed studies.
