I have an older board... an epox 8HKA+ 266 MB. I never installed the VIA 4-1 drivers...not to sound stupid I don't know what they are for...but I have been wondering ever since if it would help anything if I did install them...

If so where do you get the newest drivers and how do you go about installing them ? is it after a format or can you do it any time...and does it improve performance ?

Thanks in advance

Leeland

p.s. does anyone know of a place that I could find a guide to tweak my BIOS settings ? such as video ?

Download the Hyperion 4.51 drivers from here at top of page, and just unzip and run the exe.file.

install guide..
Yes they should be installed.I`ve used the 4.51 drivers on my ex Epox 8KHA+ with no problems.

VIA Hyperion 4 in 1 driver includes four system drivers to improve the performance and maintain the stability of systems using VIA chipsets. These four drivers are: VIA Registry (INF) Driver, VIA AGP VxD driver, VIA ATAPI Vendor Support Driver and VIA PCI IRQ Miniport Driver.

The VIA Hyperion 4in1 drivers automatically detect your operating system and will install only what is necessary. For your information:

You don`t need to reformat.

Thanks for the info on the Via drivers...is that something that you only need to install once or everytime you reinstall the OS ?

as for the bios tweak guide I was hoping for something a little more talored to my MB or does it not matter ?

Thanks again

You should install the VIA chipset drivers everytime right after reformat and reinstall of OS,you can update them anytime, but once installed you can forget about them if you wish.

As to BIOS tweaks, for video card I use the following, disable all video shadowing, disable system bios cacheable, disable video ram cacheable, fastwrites can be set to enabled or disabled (disabled is normally better for stability but I had no problems with them on).AGP aperture size set ot 64mb or 128mb.

I have the same board, didnt have the drivers, installing them made a noticeable difference (faster)
Just do it!
