It?s been a long time since I?ve posted a question in these forums. And now I need the collective knowledge of the forum members to help me make a decision. My current computer system, one I built myself, has a random video card error that is driving me crazy. I?ve done everything the software vendor and video card manufacturer has recommended and the only cause is a fault memory module on the card. My current system specifications are listed below. I currently have a ATI 9600 XT with 128 MB. I?m looking at a ATI 100-435712 Radeon X850PRO 256MB to replace it. Please let me know if I am making a good choice or is there a better card out there for $150 or less.

System Specs
AMD XP 2800+ Barton Core
Albatron KX18DS Pro Motherboard
1.5 GB PC3200 DDR Ram
WD 80GB SE Hard Drive
Antec 400PS

Thank you in advance,
Quixfire

With Shader model 3 support and GDDR3, you will be much happier. I have a couple of friends with this exact card, and from what I have seen, it runs very well.

The OP needs an AGP card, and while there are AGP versions of the 7600gt available, they cost more than $150. The x850pro looks like the fastest AGP card for under $150.

The X850Pro is a very good card for that price in AGP. AN other good choice is a 6600GT for around $100, but the X850Pro will be faster.
