My parents are opening a tea and coffee shop, and I am setting up an MP3/desktop to stereo system for them, and also routers so that customers can surf the web while they sip.

Can anyone here recommend an affordable setup for the music (wireless mp3 to stereo system), as well as a router system that can cover a 1300 sq feet coffee shop?

Thanks a mill...

Take a look at Sveasoft, a company that creates aftermarket firmware for Linksys wireless routers. You can bump up the router's power as well as add on aftermarket antennas, such as ceiling antennas, to get better coverage.

How exactly do you want the MP3 system to work? Do you have a pair of speakers hung from the ceiling? One option to consider is to get a computer, put iTunes on it, load your MP3 collection and create playlists, and then connect a minijack-to-RCA adapter from the computer's sound card to an integrated amplifier or receiver. A fun idea is to get a cheap 5.1 receiver, hook your computer into it, and play stereo music from the PC using Dolby Pro-Logic II over the entire store. Or you could pick up a set of Logitech z-680 speakers and run the satellites along the ceiling.

Thanks Kaido,

That's a great idea; the computer would be in the kitchen, so if I went the 5.1 speaker route with the logitechs or Klipch types, could I get enough wire and ceiling speaker holders from, say, bestbuy or radio shack, to make it happen? OR would I have to order these parts specialty?

Thanks again-
