My dad's central AC broke down. He found out he needs a new motor. The mechanic doesn't have it currently and he's trying to find it himself.

It's GE ECM Motor X13 1/3 horse power 280/230 volt.

Because it's not a standard electronic gadget. I have a hard time finding a reputable vendor for this. Is Ebay good enough? What are some other compatible motors he can buy instead?

Thanks guys.

Is that for the blower inside the house?

Can you post a picture of the motor and any identifying tags that might be on it?

just replaced mine on monday. get all the other specs too: HP, voltage, amperage, RPM, size, shaft diameter. they will be listed on old motor directly, or you can look up on internet.

i ordered mine from grainger. i also got rid of a GE, replaced with a Century of the same specs.

i can give some advice based on my experience if you are going for DIY.

edit - this was for the outdoor condenser fan motor, not the interior air handler blower. id take the same approach on matching parts to grainger though

Wow, thanks for all the starting help. My folks live far from me. I'll get him to take a pic.

FWIW, I had a blower motor go out on mine and had trouble finding an exact replacement. A contractor friend of mine gave me an old one he had laying around - it was so filthy I couldn't even see if the specs matched but he insisted it would work fine. It's been working flawlessly for the past 4 years or so.

GE makes about all the motors for the big players and have approximately 2.5B different model numbers.
