A week ago I bought a DVD from someone on ebay - the Scarface collectors edition DVD. I paid with a money order, and it came promptly. The case said "Collectors edition", however the DVD itself was the non-collectors edition, and was missing all the good stuff like commentary, etc.

I tried emailing the seller and he's used about 4 different excuses, such as "the auction never said it had commentaries etc". Checking on imdb shows that ALL collectors edition dvds have that stuff; and to note, the auction did state that it was the collector's edition. Next was that the DVD he sold me wasn't from Universal studios, which is funny since the box says "Universal", and no other companies make the DVD.

I tried ebay's conflict resolution, and he refuses to participate since it requires him entering his password. He is now saying that I am harassing him by sending him so many emails (it's been about 6 so far) and that he will not respond.

My question is this - do I have any recourse whatsoever to get my money back, or did I get screwed?

thanks, I've been lurking until now.

to the others: is it possible to get a refund for a money order after it's potentially cashed? Also, I heard that if you pay with a money order, it's considered mail fraud. Any truth to those or were people BSing me?

With a $25 deductible? Hah.

Ebay has enough problems with the system. This is just one of them.

Funny, I never get shafted. Oh, that's right, I don't risk it by entertaining an Ebay fancy

I realize that I'd only get about 3 bucks back, but if I can cost him anything, or at least stop one fraudulent person, I'd be satisfied.
