So yea. I'm gonna be burning the midnight-breakfast oil to write a paper, but I'm a little tired and want to take a nap to kind of freshen up. How long of a nap should I take so I get enough rest to be a little fresher but not so much rest that I'm too tired to think when I wake up?

Where are you located? If its the same time as me right now I would say don't take a nap. If you take a three hour nap then it will be 5am and thats no different than waking up early. Nothing longer then an hour and I usually feel refreshed, anything longer and I feel like I need more sleep. Do you have to stay up all day tomorrow after you write the paper? If not then I would just pound a redbull and tough it out, after the paper is done you can sleep.

why are you writing a paper on Saturday night? Is it due Monday?

guess it depends on how much work you have left to do and how much of that work is just thinking versus tedious research / leg work.

if it were me and all of my leg work was done already, I'd probably sleep for a full 8 hours. I think a lot more clearly after a full night of sleep and end up being more productive for it, working twice as hard in the morning than I would have at night on little/no sleep.

Well, I got 10 pages of research paper tonight, then another 5 pages in the morning (different paper). In other words, too much for me to do on a normal night. Maybe I'll take 5-6 hours tonight and start in the morning?
