how do you unformat a drive these days....

i need to recover a FAT partition that was accidentally formatted by my syster......
does anybody know ??? help please....

Try here: Defraggle your motherdisc!

JUST KIDDING!

If it was quick-formatted, you might be able to find a utility for the recovery.

If it was done with a normal format (far more likely) you are out of luck.

Most importantly, DO NOT INSTALL ANYTHING ON THAT PARTITION until you have given up.

. There are several software solutions. One I've used is Lost & Found by PowerQuest (the Partition Magic company). They don't sell it anymore, but I've seen it listed at www.MSBCD.com . I've used it to save the bacon several times. If you get L&F, be sure to DL the patches from the PowerQuest web site.
. Another new software to do the same thing is at this site - they even claim to be able to recover from fragged RAID-0 arrays: DiskRecoverySW
. You can DL a demo which will tell you what the full pkg will be able to recover--so you can see what you would get before you plunk down your $$$s (I just DLd the demo myself for insurance <g> ). Can't beat that!
