I need to schedule a mamogram for my mother...

She just turned 40 this April, and doctors ususally recommend that one start to have annual mamograms at this age.

However, my mom doesn't think much of this, and says that if my dad and I want her to have one, we need to set it up ourselves.

How should I go about doing this? What type of facilities offer this test?

I live in East Cobb in the Atlanta area, if you need to know.

thanks 🙂

Call your mother's physcian! They will have all the info.

This is very good thing to do for your mom. I had to literally fight with my mother to get her to go for regular check-ups.

we only had one physician after we moved to the atlanta area, and we didn't like her much...

can I just call a local hospital and ask them about it? should my insurance (Cigna PPO) cover it?

<< make sure you do regular breast exams even between mammograms for her >>

good idea uncle jimbo.. sick :disgust:

hmm.. where's a good place to get a colonic?

and make her do it dammit. MAKE HER DO IT.

tell her that if she does not, i'll go to your house and fart.

anyway, your insurance should cover it. if it does not, get rid of that policy.

frankly, I recommend mammograms during the 30s. no i am not a doctor, just a concerned person =)

call a hospital or stop by and ask questions. but it's best if she does it.

I used to run a medical clinic. Almost any medium to large clinic will have mammography as part of its Xray department, as a mammogram is basically a specialized Xray procedure. Any hospital would also have the capability. You do need a physician's referral for the procedure, so she would have to get that from her doctor. I'm not sure you can set it up without her permission, though.

I saw a significant number of women catch their cancer earlier rather than later by doing regular checkups. Be sure to check her health insurance policy to see that it's covered. And, this is very important, make sure that whatever clinic you go to accepts that particular policy, or you could pay much much more.

Good luck!

whats a MILF? She is convinced that there is cancer in her breasts. There was a lump removed already a few yrs ago and thank God is was benign. Now she is scared to check them. Is there no other way besides Xray?
