Probably an X1900 XT.
Cheap and very effective. Especially for Oblivion.

In the UK you can pick it up for as little as £170.

Huh, I have been researching that card. That is a pretty good card from what I understand.

They can - in PowerPoint mode. That is - like the slide.

The only thing that can decently play Oblivion is upcoming Radeon X1950 Pro

Well, you should pick from the cards that LW07 and I presented you with. You should be quite pleased with either of the cards.

The X850pro will be able to play at 1024*768 longer than the 6600GT will. I'm talking about like in terms of future games and stuff.

Right now its a pretty easy (if limited) choice if you want to play games like Oblivion with any kind of decent detail settings...listed in order of best value.
(note that although the X850 Pro is cheaper then the 7600GT by $44, its hotter, louder, draws more power & doesn't support all the 3d features the GT does, so I don't think its as good a value.)

(1) Leadtek 7600GT AGP @ $179 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814122009 (Quieter, cooler & almost as fast as 7800GS)

(2) ATI X850 Pro @ $135 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814102606 (Can be modded to perform like an X850XT)

(3) BFG 7800GS @ $235 w/$30 MIR http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814143046 (Fastest AGP card currently available)

Edit: Be advised that the 6600GT won't come close to any of the above listed cards performance in any newer game ... all that card has going for it these days is that its very cheap.

I am going to go with the 6600, If i can't find a BFG i'll go with the Evga. I don't like using ATi's with Pentiums.

OC'ing gpu for games doesn't yield any visible performance gains... like if you're card can't play oblivion at stock, it still won't be able to play it after u oc it.

Oblivion isn't going to run well on that card at all ... 800x600 with low details is about the best you can expect.. if you can afford it I strongly suggest going with the 7600GT or the X850 Pro instead.

Also where did you get the idea that ATI cards don't work well with Intel based systems?

Are you really serious about that? I mean have you used a P4 2.6 with 6600GT and fired up Oblivion or are you just pulling out random and uninformed claims out of your ass?

Thought so.

I was able to fear on high 1024x768 aa off with a 6200
Now im pretty sure with alot ram and tweaking the 6600 should be able to oblivion, most likely on the lowest resolution and graphics features.

This definitely depends on what kind of cooling you have and what card you have. Some cards unlock and run very cool so see pretty noticeable gains from overclocking. The 6600gt is not an amazing OC'er, not bad though. I think he should try to get a used x850xt agp or something else because the 6600gt wont run Oblivion appreciably.
