My brother has a web site that is hosted by a site that uses cPanel X. He asked me for help as the person who built his site hasn't been very helpful. Where can I learn to manage:
* Webmail
* Parked Domains
* adding email accounts under > 1 domain
* setting up pop accounts for a new email account on my desktop client

who is the webhosting company, that may help so as others who use the same hosting company can walk you through.

For me, I use micfo, they utilize the cpanel interface.

Webmail: On the cpanel should have a link to choose the webmail service you want to use(if they over more then one), then set it up.

Parked Domains: That is if you have two web sites and you want them to go to the same place. For instance if you have yourwebsite.com as your main, you may have yourwebsite.net as a parked domain that is pointed to yourwebsite.com. However, if the parked site which in this case is the .net address, leased from a different company, you will need to go that's company's site to point that website to the .com address. You can find that info on your host, it will be something like NS1.hostcompany.com

Adding email accounts under 1 domain: This is as easy as going to email on the cpanel and setting up accounts.

Setting up pop accounts for a new email account on my desktop client: depending on the host company, they have have one of a few ways to have you get your mail, either pop.yourwebsite.com or mail.yourwebsite.com. You will just need to read through their faqs and help section to find that info. Also once we know what host company then either myself or someone else can give more specific info.

Most companies will just have you use the actual email user name either with the attached domain or without and the password for receiving that email via outlook or whatever email client you use.

I hope this helps.

Type cpanel into google. There are a number of tutorials out there. There appear to be different versions, so be aware. Not sure how much difference that will actually make.

I have learned a few basics on my own. I found it slightly intimidating as I really didn't want to screw things up. And I did! The school of hard knocks. Changed some text on a web page in the html editor. Yikes!

As far as the pop on your desktop, the one I dealt with had a link to click on that set it up automatically. Had to agree to some security warnings though.
