I need to learn how to play Super Smash Bros. Melee

I have been going over to a friend's place recently and always seem to walk in on a smash game. I play, but suck and keep falling. There isn't really time for me to sit down with his system and I don't have a gamecube. Are there any tutorials or guides online? Any tips? Best character?

It's due to the controller being suck. Only ridiculous amounts of practice make you able to play any gamecube game with any level of proficiency

Do you use that in that game? I've never tried it.

Just get a gamecube and the good titles, so cheap nowadays. You won't regret it. Then go back and kick their asses.

But really if you "don't have time" you're not going to beat people who spend lots of time practicing...
