I need to increase mouse tracking speed... help?

I recently bought a new wireless keyboard/mouse combo.




The mouse's functionality is great -- however, the tracking is just not as fast as my last one. This drives me nuts, as I am used to a very quick tracking speed. Even with the system setting at max, its just not fast enough.




Are there any 3rd party apps that can increase pointer speed?




Its a Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer 2.0 if that helps.

Well I know it is the mouse... and I'm looking for a software fix....

Control Panel/Mouse/Pointer Options- uncheck "enhance pointer precision."

You're welcome. When I got my 20" LCD I found that 1600 x 1200 is a lot of ground for a mouse to cover. I had to do some research to figure this stuff out. There are some registry settings that are supposed to speed up the mouse, but they didn't do anything for me.
I'm curious, what kind of mouse did you have that was faster? I have a MS Intellimouse 3 (wired).

I didn't realize that some mice track faster than others. Good info.

Its not much faster, but it just felt snappier/more responsive.



Could be as simple as the size of the mouse to the location of the optic tech... who knows.
