As far as the Mac vs. PC thing, if you're willing to pay the premium for Mac hardware, then go for it. The only piece of Mac hardware that I'd ever want are their beautiful screens. As for the OS, both OS X and Windows 7 are really solid choices, especially for something as simple as photo editing. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't it pretty difficult to install OS X on a non-Mac machine running regular PC hardware?

I downloaded a trial copy of lightroom and testing it out. Its interesting, but hella slow on this Gateway 305CRV - 2.4 celeron with 1gb of ram and a 7200 rpm 80gb hdd (i upgraded the ram and hdd so those are not stock).

The laptops fine for web and other stuff, but lightroom crawls, but its useable until i get the desktop or something faster.

question is there any video tutorials, i dont want to read, i rather watch.

I had no idea that a Celly would be so slow.

As for tutorials, I watched the ones by Matt Kloskowski and they were great.

Not free though. But if you've got any questions you could always ask here. A number of people including myself seem pretty adept at LR.
