I am afraid that if I go to an actual shop, they will just lie so that they can try to get them for a cheaper price. Are there any free online price guides? Where do you go to find the value of your baseball cards?

Thanks!

just a heads up if you were collecting baseball cards in the late 80's early 90's aside from a couple of cards you are better off burning them for warmth. I got rid of 9 giant boxes of cards a year or so ago after going through beckett and realizing most cards were only worth like 3 cents each and you'd be lucky if a dealer would give you 1/30th of a cent for a card. But use beckett it is an industry accepted standard and will give you an idea of what it is worth.

*remeber just because beckett says a card is worth something doesn't make it so. A card is only worth as much as someone is willing to pay you for it.*

Yea, sports cards arent what they used to be. I lost interest in Basketball and Football cards in the early 90's. It was nice to open a pack of cards and find a few good players, a RC, and maybe an insert. But today, there are more inserts produced than actual cards.

Not that I really kept much of an eye on sports cards, but it's interesting to see how the "special inserts" have progressed through the years

One part of my collection is a bunch of Hall of Fame "Plaque Cards." For about 3 years I would go down there to Cooperstown, camp in the streets, and get a ticket to go into the Hall of Fame to get some big name hall of famers to sign some plaque cards for me.

The last time they did this, Nolan Ryan was being inducted. I got him to sign it. I even met his nephews and hung out with them for some of the day.
But anyways, this was the last year they did this kid's autograph session since the players wantewd more money for it.

But I have SEVERAL of these autographed plaque cards. For special items like these, how do you price them? Is my best bet Ebay?
