Title just about says it...my boyfriend and i are gonna go to chicago in may...we need some good ideas of some inexpensive(but nice) hotels

please help me!

What do you mean by inexpensive? What price range? When I think 'inexpensive', I think like $70 a night, but I probably wouldn't want to stay in anything costing less than $100 a night.... although you can get very nice deals online. My parents stayed at Hotel Monaco for $90 a night when my mom got a good semi-last-minute deal on Priceline.

Also, where are you wanting to stay? What is the purpose of your visit? Will you be bringing/renting a car? There are good/cheaper hotels out away from downtown, but it's a royal pain to get around the city in a car if you're not familiar with things, and it's even worse trying to take public transport if you're not right on an El line. (Granted, it's not as bad as some places, but still...) Anything downtown, while it will be close to the main tourist attractions, is going to be more expensive.

So I would suggest that you go to Priceline, put in 3+ stars, Downtown area, and start at a low price and keep working your way up until you get something. Probably do the same thing with Travelocity (I've never used it personally so I can't say how it works). If you get out of your price range, I can recommend the hotels at Midway airport (the first five listed in the link), all of which are major chain hotels with a consistent, decent level of quality across the nation, probably for less than $100 a night, depending on the circumstances. I would only recommend that you do this if you have a car, though (and *be careful driving around down there!!!!*). There's probably another similar group of hotels at O'Hare airport, although I've never stayed there (not having a car would probably be easier if you stayed at O'Hare). Of course, if you're flying into one of the airports then staying close by is obviously a benefit. The last thing I'll mention is that there is at least one hotel at McCormick Place (the major convention center) which is pretty nice and has easy access to downtown via the Metra commuter rail system. I forgot which hotel it is, but that's an option besides downtown/O'Hare/Midway.
