780 requires two 8 pin connectors.
I currently have 8 + 6 so i need 2 more.

can I use some kind of power cable to draw power from this socket? (below is my PSU)

o_O.........ummmmmmmmmm, those sockets are part of the power delivery system. Thats called a modular power supply, it only has a few cables coming directly from the PSU and the rest is taken out as needed from those plugs....

You should have one that looks like this. According to Cooler Master your PSU comes with 4 of these.

So the answer is yes? I can draw power from there too feed my video card? (they are all empty now).

I think i've lost the by now (the system is 2 years old).

Are cables like this available for sale separately?

Cooler Master doesn't offer aftermarket cables like you can get for Corsair, seasonic, and Silverstone. If you want them you may have to call them.

The captive cable set consists of a 20+4-pin motherboard connector, two 4+4-pin ATX12V/EPS12V connectors, and a total of four PCI-E connectors - two 6+2-pin and two 6-pin.
according to this picture The cables coming out of the PSU that are non-modular have the 6+2 pin. Look at the two at the bottom of the picture.

You have TWO...it says so right in Cooler Master's documentation! You have two 6+2 and two 6 pins. One 6pin connector is split off of a 6+2.
Here's what i have now:
8pin + 8pin
8pin + 6pin

so i'm still missing 2 pins.

That cable only works on Corsair PSUs. The cables are not interchangeable.
That's weird. Why would it only work on a Corsair PSU? It's a simple cable.
Anyway, here's a similar cable not marked for any one PSU: http://www.moddiy.com/products/Prem...6%2b2-Pin-PCI%2dE-Extension-Cable-(Blue).html

BTW the two extra pins on the 8-pin pci-e connector are just grounds. Their existence only tells the card it can draw more power. Although they may allow for less noisy circuits.

are you saying I can power a 780 with 8pin+6pin ?
that would significantly make things for me easier.

though, why do the card specs say that 2 x 8pins are needed?

You prob could. The card may not like it but it most likely wouldn't blow up. (indemnity clause)

They make adapters and as you can see it just runs two extra wires from the black grounds.

It just tells the card that it can draw 150w (8-pin) instead of 75w (6-pin)
