I have DSL and part of the terms are that I can still use a dial up connection xx hours per month. All I have to do is log on to the dial up and fax. OTOH, as ROSSman said, there are numerous websites that allow you to send and receive faxes through e-mail. Whether or not they are free, I don't know.

My DSL ISP also allows dialup which is nice, if only it didn't cost $25/month in addition to the $32/month telco fees :(

My isp, RCN, gives you a dialup account with your cable modem access. It's been extremely useful over the past few years.

Oh yeah, I forgot that RR offers free dial up. I would then need to install a 56k modem & some sort of fax software-right? Does Winxp pro have some sort of native fax abilities?

Umm...you don't need an ISP to send a fax...Just a modem and a phone line.

Unless you're talking about email-to-fax, in which case he'd use his cable ISP.

Yes it does, but it's an optional component, so you may not have installed it. I have it in WinXP Home, but I've never tried it because I don't have a phoneline modem.

Duh, I feel stupid now. Your right dude8604, all I need is the modem & my phone line & some fax software. Forgive me, its been a while since I even thought of dial up modems.
