I have broadband, but my friend doesn't. He needs a branch or part of a local government website for documents needed to start a charter school.
I need software to download that branch to burn it onto a cd for him. Is there any good but free or cheap software for this one time use?

Thanks.

just use internet explorer - add to favourites & check 'make available offline'
then click customize & choose how deep you need it to go. Just follow the branches of the site & find out how many pages deep you need it to go to get everything.

Then, either customize then - or set a schedule.
I believe these files are saved somewhere on your computer - I'll test it.

ok, apparently IE sucks my nadz.

It wouldn't even work when I just clicked 'work offline' - let alone find the files. I'll keep looking though.

OK, I figured it out - this should work...

After syncronizing go to Windows > Offline Web Pages.
Copy that file & burn it to a CD or zip disk or floppy depending on size.

Have him copy that file into his 'Offline Web Pages' folder.
Hopefully he should be able to view it.

I'd suggest making sure you both use the same version of IE. (I'm using 5.5)

A package called Teleport Pro will allow you to easily grab an image of a web site. I have used it for children's research. It can also act as a spider.
