I need to crop an oval in a picture but can't seem to do it.

I made this nice little oval shaped logo in OpenOffice draw and made a jpeg out of it. Now it has a nice white rectagular border around it I want to get rid of. I don't have any great programs and the ones I do have that can crop a picture don't have an oval feature that I can see. I even tried using the trial version of photo shop but I don't really know how to use it. Anyone know of anything that is simple and free to use and can crop an oval shape. I would also be happy enough if someone knows OpenOffice good enough to know what file format to export it to so it just saves the image as seen on the screen and nothing behind it.
