I need to buy a router

Is this for a broadband WAN connection or will it be routing LAN traffic?
Even though most models offer 10/100 WAN ports, their pratical throughput may not necessarily be that high due to hardware and/or software design.

Purchased an WRT54GC at Fry's for $20 a few weeks ago. Very good performance in wire mode (easy 42Mbps with one PC).

Why?

:sun:

it's:

a) Reasonably cheap (I got mine for $5)
b) efficient
c) easy to get a hold of
d) wired
e) easy to set up
f) fully featured

Seems to fill all of the poster's qualifications

b- to f are same as 99% of the brand name Routers.

If the OP can find it for a ($5)? Yeah it is a good choice.
